BEWARE. Tammy Cates is a thief. She does not care about anything but getting your money. Plus the women at the house were totally unsupportive. Nice location but a really scarey place if you want to stay clean. Also, she may charge you double what everyone else is paying. Unfortunately this house was always in crisis with someone relapsing. DO NOT GO THERE. Worse than a poor rating!

I want to thank everyone who tried to help me along my path of recovery. However i wasn,t serious so no sober living by the gulf didnt work for me. I used it to hide the true me and use who ever i could along the way. The place was great with some positive people to talk and network with.I relized that this was not a treatment center but my chance to show me how i could arm myself for the world i had left behind. My addiction caused me to thrown hangernades behind me as i went about this community. The place is good if you use it for whats its intended, Sober living not spring break or dodging your parents,or just waiting for the demon to reappear as your friend again. Thanks for the chance that other's choose to disregard. I really did want to live sober

This place is out of control. The owner Tammy drinks daily. There is no one on the property to manage activities of the residents. Tammy claims there is a in house person but Tony the guy that is supposed to be is never there and either is Tammy. Do not send your family or friends here as it is OUT OF CONTROL.

I would not suggest this place at all. Half of the women used. People relapsed and dropped like flies. No one professional there to help you. You were not helped at all. Promises of counselors, palates classes and other perks, but nothing. This was just to get you in the door so money could be made. Tammy the director is a real estate agent and knows nothing about alcoholism or drug addiction. Big mistake if you think you'll get help there.

I have seen them come and go and dropped off with no hope, left standing by the curb being blinded by the dope.Familys that believed if the only know of this place their loved ones life may have taken a different pace.A sober living community is what i found nice where everyone is on the same page about life.Sober living by the gulf helped saved my life when i was lost. They may have seemed hard and showed some hard love but if it wasn't for them i may have visited the man up above. My addiction is fast and it's furious and sometimes lonely but sober living by the gulf showed me how to reach my glory. Thanks for all you do and all you share and because of you i now really care.If you stop and you talk with the manager who himself is 19 years clean i'm sure you will leave with a much better prospective on the journey you chose So i highly recommend you give it a try and bid your lost soul bye bye

Here we go again with those that are unable to complete anything suggesting another of their many programs are Bs.Sure things happen at programs and people relapse or even overdose, but isnt that the reason for asking for help. The problem with the winers are they continue in life telling help how to help them even if they have no clue themselfs. Sober living by the gulf is a great place for new beginnings if you choose to use it for what it was intended..Many sober living housing are near or in the dope hole and certainly not as nice. The only thing Ms cate is gulty of is tring to help those who don't want to help themselfs. I worst addict i ever met was a smart addict. Generally the never get due to them complicating the process and looking to microwave it.It seems every time someone fails in their recovery they are quick to blame something and someone else. Most of the time this is the ony place that will house you when even thier parents don't want to be bothered.. Jails ,death, institutions most who say these tpye places are bad are on there last roll from 2 out of three.

Remember to check where your other fingers are while you point at others. Why would you take advice from someone that hasn't completed anything, but only moves from place to place and not liky to where they started(home). It has always amazed me how those that dont work a true program expect a effortless life.If everyone in a holding cell where to listen to those that they met while there and told them of how bad they felt this place and that place was and you believed it no one would ever make it to the next level in the life.Always listen to those that have completed some things and are upward bound, not just pointing fingers as to why they can't seem to get there life on track.I truly dont beleive there was any braging ,but acknowlegement of their past wrongs and the ability to still maintain their focus and become a giver to those that need the true story, not sugar coating. If your one of those people that are only interested in saving your face and not your ass then this is truly not the place for you. This place is beautiful and not in the dope hole like most housing of addicts are but on the beach area.So while you are thinking about a safe place ask yourself,,,,,why did these negative comment makers take the time to say these things.... It takes the focus off of them. Never once did they say that they went on to become contributors to the world they enjoy taking from.Liky these are those that area still on probation ,house arrest,or even another substance abuse program where its inportant to be told the steps for a productive life.It ony works if you work it. So don't blame the facilty look at your other fingers when you point

This is a scary place to put it mildly. I mistakenly wrote out check to Ms Cate and have a contract stating that deposit would be returned but of course it wasn't. There are many people on site who are still using and there was indeed a recent overdose. Very limited oversite and the "new" manager is psycho. Very verbally abusive and he brags that he has a prison record. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

I checked IA last week for this facility. It is down the street from a Certified Facility my son went to.I was assured new management is now there. I was then asked to check other sober living places since someone from the Certified Facility recently went to this Sober Living and is now in the hospital after overdosing right at this property. I called the Certified Facility and they had nothing good to say about this place. I checked other Reputable Licensed Rehabs and no one even knows of this place.

Looking for a "rehab" on the beach & I sawthis one, again. Never actually went but the "up front" money or "deposit" were something to warn the public about. Finding a facility closer to home, I cancelled my bed reservation 24 hours prior to arrival. After all the phone calls & letters, the $300.00 deposit I paid by check and wrote out to Ms Cate personally,(who claimed to be the "owner") was never returned. I didn't give notice in a "timely" manner, she wrote. No such time limit for cancelation was ever discussed prior to payment. The Florida Division of Corp.,(Sunbiz.org) listing website shows Ms Cate as the " manager " not the owner, as I was told. The property is held under an LLC owned by a gentleman who also lists himself as a "manager." But,I was told to make all checks out in Ms. Cate's name only, an obvious red flag. Agencies which control & monitor Certified Facilities still have no knowledge or record of this establishment, another red flag to the public.
